Remember Who You Married

Reconcile Daily by Choosing to See Your Spouse Again

I think all of us can fall into this trap. We stop seeing our spouse as the person we fell in love with and begin seeing them only through the lens of responsibilities.

Bill becomes...

  • the nanny.

  • the driver.

  • the one who takes out the trash.

  • the one who fixes things.

Jodie becomes...

  • the ministry leader.

  • the grandmother.

  • the employee.

  • the planner.

Without realizing it, we stop seeing the man or woman we once couldn't wait to spend time with. That's where reconciliation begins.

Not because we're angry.

Not because we're fighting.

But because familiarity has quietly replaced wonder.

Sometimes the greatest reconciliation isn't saying, "I'm sorry."

It's saying,

"I see you again."

I see the man I prayed for. I see the woman God gave me.

I see your sacrifices, your servant's heart, your smile, your dreams, and I see your calling.

Sometimes we don't need to reconcile after conflict. We need to reconcile after becoming distracted.

I'm so thankful the Lord never forgets who His Bride is. He doesn't look at us as another obligation, another problem, or another interruption. He calls us beloved. Chosen. His treasured possession.

Even when we wander, He pursues us because His love never becomes familiar or routine.

When we choose to really see our spouse again, we reflect the heart of Christ toward His Church.

This week, don't just ask,

"How can I love my spouse?"

Ask,

"Am I still seeing the person I married?"

Because when we truly see one another again, affection grows, grace increases, and reconciliation becomes much easier.

Your marriage doesn't have to be perfect. It just needs to be pampered.
