The Pillar of Action: Love That Moves

Love isn’t love until it’s shown. The Pillar of Action reminds us that true love isn’t just a feeling—it’s a faith that moves.

In every marriage, there are moments when one partner needs the other to carry a little more of the load. Sometimes we are the ones being served, and sometimes we are called to serve. Both are sacred when done in love.

The Pillar of Action

In our marriage, Bill has always been the one who serves. He’s the first to help with dinner, fold a load of laundry, or quietly fill my car with gas before I even notice it’s low. His love language has always been simple acts of service to others—simple, thoughtful gestures that speak louder than words ever could.

But recently, Bill hurt his back, and suddenly, the one who’s always taken care of me couldn’t do what he normally does. It was my turn to take action—to love him the way he’s always loved me.

Love required me to move from being pampered to being purposeful. It wasn’t about doing big things; it was about doing the right things—acts of care that said, “I see you, I appreciate you, and I’m here for you.”

That’s the beauty of this pillar: when one can’t, the other can. When one is weak, the other strengthens. When one is hurting, the other heals through humble service.

Ask yourself:

  • What small action can I take today to show love in a way that speaks louder than words?

  • How can I serve my spouse when it’s not convenient, easy, or noticed?

  • Am I loving like Christ loves me—faithfully, humbly, and without condition?

Remember: Love that sits still fades; love that moves grows.
