Sabbath Together: Where Love Slows Down and Joy Shows Up

Bill and I just had another beautiful Sabbath Together weekend, and I’m reminded again how powerful it is to simply… pause. No rushing. No pressure. Just presence. 💕
This weekend looked simple—resting, laughing, and yes… playing Qwirkle together (which got a little competitive 😄). But what may look ordinary on the outside was actually sacred on the inside. Because Sabbath isn’t just about stopping work…It’s about making space for connection.
In our Pamper Your Marriage Daily Workbook, we intentionally build this rhythm in—moments to slow down, reconnect, and remember why you chose each other in the first place. And here’s what I love most…
Sabbath Together reflects how the Lord pampers His Church.
He invites us to rest in Him. He removes the striving. He quiets the noise. He simply says, “Come be with Me.”
That’s exactly what we get to model in our marriages.
When we choose Sabbath together:
We stop performing and start enjoying
We lay down stress and pick up peace
We rediscover friendship, laughter, and intimacy
Sometimes it looks like deep conversation…Sometimes it looks like worship…And sometimes it looks like sitting across from your spouse, laughing over a game.
But every time—it’s holy.
If your marriage feels busy, distant, or heavy…maybe it doesn’t need more effort.
Maybe it just needs a Sabbath. A moment to breathe. A moment to reconnect. A moment to remember: we’re on the same team.
This is your reminder: You don’t have to do something extravagant to strengthen your marriage…
Just be together.
Your marriage doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be pampered.
