Love in Action

When Serving Becomes a Language of Love

The other night, Bill brought me a plate. Not just any plate…

A beautifully arranged platter of fresh vegetables and fruit.

Simple. Intentional. Thoughtful. And in that moment, I was reminded of something so powerful: Love isn’t just spoken… it’s served.

Bill has always been someone who shows love through his actions. He doesn’t always say a lot…(And if I’m being honest, I wouldn’t mind hearing it a little more often 😉)

But he lives it. He serves. He provides. He shows up faithfully.

And this plate—this simple act—was another reminder of the way he loves me.

In Pamper Your Marriage, the Action pillar is all about putting love into motion.

Because love was never meant to stay in words alone. It was meant to:

  • be seen

  • be felt

  • be experienced

Anyone can say “I love you.” But action says:

“I see you.” “I care for you.” “I am thinking about you.”

The Lord doesn’t just tell us He loves us, He demonstrates it.

His love is active and intentional. Personal.

And when we serve our spouse…

We reflect that same love.

What I’ve learned over the years is this:

Love doesn’t always look like grand gestures. Sometimes it looks like:

  • bringing a plate of food

  • doing something without being asked

  • noticing a need before it’s spoken

  • showing up in small, consistent ways

Those are the moments that build a marriage.

Ask yourself:

• How does my spouse naturally show love?

• Am I recognizing it?

• What is one simple act I can do for them today?

You don’t need a big plan. You just need one intentional step.

That plate of food may have seemed small, but it spoke volumes.

Because at the end of the day:

Love isn’t just what we say. It’s what we do.

Your marriage doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be pampered.
