Love Does Something

ACTION Pillar
Bill and I were at Dollywood when we snapped this picture. Nothing fancy. Just the two of us enjoying the day, riding rides, laughing, walking around, and making another memory together with family. And looking at this picture made me think about another pillar Bill and I are standing on in our marriage:
A - Action Follows Love.
It is easy to say, “I love you.”
It is even easy to believe, They know I love them.
But one of the things we teach in Pamper Your Marriage is that love shouldn't just be something we feel. Love should move us to action.
In our Pamper Your Marriage Daily Workbook, we encourage couples to find tangible ways to show love every day. Sometimes those actions require planning. Sometimes they're spontaneous. Sometimes they're romantic. Sometimes they're incredibly ordinary.
But the important thing is this:
Show love every day.
Sometimes action looks like planning a day together.
Sometimes it's making your spouse's favorite meal.
Sometimes it's putting your phone away and really listening.
Sometimes it's taking something off their plate when they're overwhelmed.
Sometimes it's affection.
Sometimes it's doing that thing they've asked you to do five times. LOL.
And sometimes it's simply saying, “Come on, let's go do something together.”
Because marriage isn't built only in the big moments.
It is built in thousands of little choices that say:
I see you.
I choose you.
I still want to spend time with you.
You matter enough for me to make the effort.
This is what I love so much about this pillar. God didn't just tell us He loved us. He demonstrated it.
Romans 5:8 says:
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
His love moved.
Jesus came.
He served.
He touched.
He healed.
He washed feet.
He fed people.
He comforted the brokenhearted.
And ultimately, He laid down His life for His Bride.
Jesus is the greatest example we will ever have that Action Follows Love.
His love wasn't merely spoken from Heaven.
His love came down.
So that makes me ask myself a question:
If I say I love Bill, what did my love cause me to DO this week?
Not what did I intend to do.
Not what did I think about doing.
Not what do I assume he already knows.
What did my love DO?
And that's my challenge for you this week too.
Don't wait for a birthday.
Don't wait for an anniversary.
Don't wait until your marriage “needs” something.
Do something today.
It doesn't have to cost money. It doesn't have to be extravagant. It doesn't even have to take much time.
Just make sure your love has feet.
Because Jesus didn't merely say He loved His Bride.
He showed her.
Now go do something that says, “I love you.”
Your marriage does not need to be perfect, it just needs to be pampered.
