A Birthday, a New Year, and the Beauty of Showing Up

Today is my birthday. 🎉We went to Olive Garden, my daughter surprised me with balloons, a crown, and a Birthday Queen banner — and for a few sweet hours, I felt deeply seen and celebrated.
No deep lesson. No grand metaphor. Just love.
And while this moment had nothing to do with marriage on the surface, it had everything to do with it underneath.

Through all of it — the writing, the late nights, the doubt, the quiet disappointments, the celebrations — my husband has been my biggest cheerleader.
Not because everything has been easy. Not because the journey has been smooth. But because encouragement matters. Marriage isn’t only about working through conflict. Sometimes it’s about standing beside someone while they figure out what’s next.
As of today, something meaningful has happened: We’ve written a blog post for every chapter in Pamper Your Marriage. Please go back and read them under the Blog section.
That season is complete.
And now it’s a new year — 2026 — and honestly?I don’t yet know exactly what the next blog season will look like.
But here’s what I do know:
God doesn’t require us to know the full plan before we keep showing up.
Consistency doesn’t always mean clarity. Sometimes it just means faithfulness.
It means showing up weekly even when the topic hasn’t fully formed yet. It means trusting that God will meet us in the act of obedience, not only in the finished product.
So for now, this blog will be a place for:
Reflection
Marriage moments (both big and small)
Faith lived out in real time
Lessons learned along the way
And space to listen for what God is building next
Since it is my birthday, I’ll share this with a smile and a wink: A really lovely birthday gift to me would be if you picked up a copy of Pamper Your Marriage — for yourself, your spouse, or a couple you love.
This book was written with prayer, honesty, and a whole lot of heart. And every time it lands in someone’s hands, it feels like another quiet “yes” to the work God has been doing through this journey.
(And no pressure — just gratitude. 😉)
As I step into another year of life, my prayer is simple:
Lord, thank You for the work You’ve completed. Thank You for the love that surrounds me. And thank You for the grace to walk forward even when I don’t yet see the whole path. Lead this next season — in my marriage, in this ministry, and in my heart. Amen.
If you’re entering this year with questions…If you’ve finished one season and aren’t sure what’s next…If you’re trying to stay faithful without feeling fully formed…
You’re not behind. You’re not off course. You’re right where God often does His best work.
Here’s to another year of showing up — together.
🥂
Your marriage doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be pampered.
